In 1997 she began acting in the age group of 13. At the age of 13, Vandervoort made her acting debut when she was 13 years old. After taking several courses as well as background work on Canadian programs like Road to Avonlea or Harriet the Spy she landed her voice on the Canadian kids horror anthology Goosebumps. Alongside commercials, she also appeared in she also appeared in guest roles on movies like Mutant X and Prom Queen: The Marc Hall Story. Goosebumps was also a element of her work. The film that she played her first in, The Lookout, was launched in the year 2006. The Lookout starred Jeff Daniels along with Matthew Goode and Isla Fischer. Vandervoort's TV career started with CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Then, she was offered the role as Clark Kent's Kryptonian Cousin "Kara Kent", (the woman who became Supergirl) and appeared in The CW serial-drama program Smallville. In season 7, she became a regular on the series. She appeared in "Bloodline" in the eighth season's episode. Three years later, in the tenth season and its final episode Smallville, she returned to appear in two additional episodes. After The CW and Smallville, Vandervoort filmed the sequel to feature film Into the Blue titled Into the Blue 2: The Reef. The Jazzman was her next independent film. The film also starred Canadian actors Michael Ironside and Corey Sevier.
