Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on January 19, 1946, at Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up with 12 other kids. She had a vivid imagination that was a great way to get away from the grim realities of life. Before she could write and read, she began creating her own music. Her first guitar purchase came at the age of 8 and started singing at the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. At the same time when she began recording her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. As a student in high school, she became famous locally but longed to be on a bigger stage. Following her graduation in 1964, she relocated to Nashville. Dumb Blonde was her first record to chart on Monument Records. Porter Wagoner had been looking for a female performer to join his syndicated show in the years prior to this. Parton accepted the role in 1966. She was then signed to RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. Parton left the show however, in 1974 due to her solo albums, like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene exceeded the sales of their joint albums. Parton composed I Will Always Love You to Wagoner following their split. It reached number one. In 1974, Parton's song I Will Always Be Loved You was a hit at the No.
